compost
Yesterday Mrs. Nancy brought in some worms. We need to feed them newspaper, carrots, coffee, and stuff like that. The worms we are using are red wigglers. We might use some night crawlers. They do not like light. They like the dark. I like that the worms eat compost. Worms are cool.

We take care of the worms by giving them good food they eat.If you give them food they aren't supposed to eat, they might die. They might die if you give them a lot of water in the soil. I like learning about worms because they can eat things we cannot eat.

Mrs. Nancy came over with the worms, and we got to put soil and a little water in the bin. We gave them carrots. Red wigglers compost organic potting soil, and we ripped news paper. They don't like the light because they might dry up. We gave them banana peeling. We put soil in there because thats what they live in. We put the soil in there so light won't get in their face. I like learning about compost because we get to feel the compost, and we get to put it in our garden. It will help a garden grow and flowers too.

Compost
Yesterday,Ms.Nancy came and helped us make a compost with worms. We have to feed them one time a week. Mrs.Nancy made the the bin for the worms. She put wet newspaper at the bottom because worms like to be wet. After that, we put some organic dirt in because the worms need to be healthy. Then she put some more wet newspaper in.Then she finally put the worms in. They were not just regular worms, they were red wrigglers. They were very small and red too! Did you know that there's no such thing as a boy worm or girl worm? All worms can lay eggs. Egg shells are nutritious to the soil. I thought that was cool. I think worms are cool. I think the compost was cool because of how she made it. I think worms are super cool!
